Text Box: Mercury Baroque is Going Darke
Sunday, May 18 at 5:00 pm
Darke Gallery
Before Mercury Baroque's downtown concert series goes dark for the summer, the ensemble is headed to Darke Gallery. Concertmaster Jonathan Godfrey and Mercury musicians will perform a chamber music set of lively Baroque pieces to accompany the artist's reception.
Darke Gallery's May exhibition, Gold Rush, features new encaustic paintings by Linda Darke.  These beautiful abstract pieces combining elemental metal powders, beeswax, resins, and oil based colors will illuminate the gallery.  The exhibition opens Saturday, May 3 and continues through Saturday, May 24.

Darke Gallery is an exciting new art space in the heart of Rice Military.  The two-story gallery and courtyard are superlative spaces for experiencing contemporary art. The main gallery features 20 foot ceilings, recycled maple gymnasium floors and a balcony. The light-filled lower level gallery opens onto a sculpture courtyard.
Darke Gallery exhibits contemporary art of the finest quality, representing over twenty local artists working in all media. Artist reception for Gold Rush is Sunday, May 18, from 5 to 8 pm.  Valet parking and refreshments are provided.
